About Us

“Dancing with the Doctors” is a premier Rhode Island fundraising event that combines the fun and excitementdavid-home-web-page of dancing to raise money for local, non-profit organizations. The event is produced by Studio One RI Dance Complex and pairs local doctors with professional dance instructors. Together, these partners practice for ten weeks to choreograph an electrifying ballroom dance routine. This year, the culmination of their work will be showcased on April 22, 2017, when they take to the stage and perform their routine in front of three judges and a lively crowd at the Dancing with the Doctor’s Gala! The combined scores of the judges and crowd will determine who gets to take home the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy at the end of the night!

baseball-home-pageDancing with the Doctors is a unique fundraiser, as there are many opportunities to participate, sponsor or donate money to the chosen charity through the event. While doctors raise money as participants, anyone can be an event and/or table sponsor, a doctor sponsor, buy votes for their favorite doctor, donate prizes for the Gala raffle, or attend the Gala to support the doctors and charity! Net proceeds from this event go directly to a local, non-profit organization that makes outstanding contributions to the citizens of Rhode Island and Southeast Massachusetts.

We are very proud that over the last three years the Dancing with the Doctors event has helped to raise over $172,000 for local charities! The fantastic Rhode Island and Southeast Massachusetts non-profit organizations we have partnered with to raise money for include:dee-about-web-page

2015 – Man/Woman of the Year – Leukemia & Lymphoma Society ($50,000)
2016 – Hope Hospice & Palliative Care, Rhode Island ($80,000)
This year, Dancing with the Doctors will benefit The Izzy Foundation! Our fundraising goal is $110,000 to help this amazing organization continue to support those in the community that have been affected by childhood cancer.

izzypurpleandyellowhorlargeThe inspiration for The Izzy Foundation came from Izzy Wohlrab who, despite being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer after her 1st birthday, maintained an incredible spirit over the next three years and spread joy and happiness to everyone who met her. Even after Izzy earned her angel wings, the foundation has continued to live by her philosophy of ‘Live, Love, Laugh and Play,’ by implementing inpatient and outpatient services for pediatric patients at Hasbro Hospital, in Providence, Rhode Island, and nationwide.

Since its inception four years ago, this 501(c)(3) non-profit organization has been successful izzy-room-about-web-pagein reaching their initial goal of opening a special gathering room at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, called The Izzy Room. This room is a warm and inviting area, where families can meet and encourage each other during their long stays at the hospital and enjoy weekly meals and entertainment provided by the foundation. Since 95% of the money raised by The Izzy Foundation goes back to the community, they have also been able to establish yearly scholarships for pediatric cancer patients and their siblings, bereavement packages for families after a loss of a child, support groups for parents and siblings and many more services that help families affected by childhood cancer.

This much needed renovation will include private consultation rooms, technology services, and an area for a surgical liaison, who will make sure families receive regular updates about their child during surgery.
